This pasta dish should not be consumed by allergy sufferers
The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety and the manufacturer Giovanni RANA Deutschland GmbH are currently warning of a pasta dish that contains several allergens that are not clearly identified. For people with a food allergy, this poses a health hazard. For reasons of preventive consumer protection, the Tortelloni court concerned is being recalled.
It is the product "Tortelloni Pesto di Basilico e Pinoli, Basil and Pinenuts Pesto" with the best before date April 12, 2019 and the lot number L104713. As the manufacturer Giovanni RANA Deutschland GmbH reports, some products in this batch do not have a German label. The allergens contained are therefore not clearly visible.
Wrong labeling of the ingredients
According to the manufacturer, the pasta in question only has prints in English, French, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Polish and Arabic - but not in German. If you do not speak any of these languages, you cannot understand the ingredients. This can pose a health risk, especially for allergy sufferers.
Several allergens are included in the product
"The product contains whey, milk, cheese, wheat, cashew nuts, lactose, barley and eggs", reports the manufacturer in a customer information on the company website. In addition, the pasta is manufactured in a plant that also processes crustaceans, fish, nuts, celery and molluscs. It cannot be ruled out that traces of these allergens are also present.
Where can the product be returned?
Giovanni RANA Deutschland GmbH claims that the affected products have already been taken out of sale. Customers who have already bought the Tortelloni dish can return it to their point of sale without presenting the receipt and will be reimbursed the purchase price.
Where was the pasta sold?
The manufacturer does not mention in which supermarkets the pasta concerned was offered. Products from Giovanni RANA Deutschland GmbH are offered by REWE, Lidl, EDEKA, Marktkauf and Real, among others. As the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety reports, the pasta was made in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Berlin, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig -Holstein and Thuringia sold.
