Wrinkles represent a natural aging process of the skin, which cannot be avoided in the long term. It stores little fluid, becomes drier and more prone to wrinkles, particularly affecting the skin on the face, neck, back of the hand and the top of the forearms.

In addition to the individual hereditary disposition, a number of other factors often influence the formation of wrinkles at a young age and can massively increase it later. This includes a lot of sunlight, smoking, pollution, too little sleep, negative stress, certain medications, nutritional deficiencies or an abrupt weight loss. Hormonal influences, the daily diet and skin care habits also have a strong influence on the connective tissue and thus on the development of wrinkles. Accordingly, the formation of wrinkles can be delayed or reduced by a healthy lifestyle and the use of natural home remedies - but natural skin aging cannot be prevented.

Nutrition tips for wrinkles

Nutrition plays an important role in the subject of “wrinkles” because it can have a serious impact on the external appearance of the skin. Foods rich in vital substances can prevent and reduce wrinkles "from the inside". For example, green vegetables such as spinach, broccoli or kale are particularly suitable, which due to the high content of vitamin B can relieve minor inflammation and ensure healthy, fresh skin. Vitamin C is also very important, because this is needed by the body to form collagen for skin elasticity. Vitamin C also protects against the so-called “free radicals”, which damage the body and skin cells. Abundant vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is found primarily in red peppers, citrus fruits, red and dark berries, pineapple, and rose hip and sea buckthorn juice.

Vitamin E can also help to give a younger looking complexion because it protects the skin, balances out moisture loss and promotes cell regeneration (epithelization). The valuable vitamin is mainly found in grains, nuts or vegetable oils such as wheat germ, sunflower seed or linseed oil.

Foods rich in vitamin A should also be on the menu regularly if you want to do something about your wrinkles. This stimulates cell division and supports the formation of elastic fibers, which makes the skin thicker and gives it an improved structure. Vitamin A can also help with dry skin and thereby slow down natural skin aging. It is one of the fat-soluble vitamins and is only found in animal foods such as fish, dairy products, meat and offal. A large number of vegetables and fruits also contain certain precursors of the vitamin ("carotenoids"), which are converted into vitamin A by enzymes in the human gut. These include carrots, spinach, fennel, honeydew melon and apricots.

Sufficient drinking is essential so that the skin is adequately hydrated, can stay healthy and elastic. If the body lacks water, on the other hand, it is less resistant and dries out "from the inside". As a result, it becomes rough, scaly and cracked, loses its elasticity and shows the first wrinkles. To prevent this, a lot should be drunk regularly. The German Nutrition Society recommends that adults consume a minimum of 1.5 liters of liquid a day - although the need can naturally increase at high temperatures and sweaty activities. Water (with or without carbon dioxide) and low-energy drinks such as unsweetened tea should therefore be preferred.

Home remedies for facial wrinkles: Rich masks

A homemade avocado mask, for example, can be helpful and beneficial for wrinkles and dry skin on the face. Among other things, this contains many valuable fats as well as vitamins A, C and E, which are good for the skin and provide it with moisture. In addition, the pear-shaped fruit with a green skin and yellowish-green pulp has a high content of amino acids, which have a positive effect on the collagen content of the skin and can thus contribute to a fresher and younger appearance. For the mask, the pulp of a half of an avocado, finely crushed with a fork, is mixed with two to three tablespoons of cold-pressed, high-quality olive oil until a smooth, green mass is obtained. The porridge is then gently massaged into the skin with your fingers and carefully washed off with cold water after about 20 minutes.

Carrots are also ideal for an anti-aging face mask. Because the healthy vegetables contain a lot of beta-carotene and other important antioxidants, which as a kind of "protective shield" can ward off aggressive, cell-damaging oxygen compounds ("free radicals"). To make a mask, one or two carrots are first washed, peeled, cut into small pieces and steamed until soft. Then they are mashed to a fine paste and mixed with a tablespoon of honey and olive oil. Now the mask is applied to the cleaned skin and left on the skin for about 15 minutes. Finally, carefully remove the carrot mass with a facial tissue and rinse the remains thoroughly with warm water.

Another natural “wrinkle killer” is cucumber, because it gives the skin a lot of moisture due to its high water content and at the same time has a firming effect. In addition, they have a skin-clarifying and refreshing effect, making them a tried and tested home remedy for acne and blemished skin. For the anti-wrinkle mask, the cucumber is first peeled and finely chopped. Then mix two to three tablespoons of the cucumber porridge with two to four tablespoons of natural quark and apply the mixture evenly to the cleansed face. If you want to treat your eyes to an extra portion of freshness or relieve swollen eyelids, place two additional slices of cucumber on your closed eyes.

Fresh, unsprayed apples are also a good home remedy for facial wrinkles, because the fruit acid has a skin-tightening and refreshing effect at the same time. For a mask, a washed apple is finely grated and mixed with a tablespoon of honey. The well-mixed porridge is then applied to the face, neck and décolleté and left on the skin for about 30 minutes. Finally, rinse the apple-honey mixture carefully with lukewarm water.

A nourishing face mask made from almond oil and honey has proven to be an effective remedy for dry, wrinkled skin. This consists of saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids (omega-9), oleic and linoleic acid (like omega-3 and 6), penetrates well into the skin and provides it with moisture. In addition, the oil contains plenty of vitamins (A, E, D etc.) and minerals (e.g. calcium, magnesium), which perform various valuable tasks such as cell regeneration in the skin and protection against free radicals. For the mask, a tablespoon of almond oil is mixed with half a tablespoon of honey and gently applied to the cleansed facial skin. After about 20 minutes of exposure, the oil mixture is also washed off thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Natural applications for skin rejuvenation

A real “miracle cure” for a wrinkle-free, fresh look is relaxed sleeping. Between seven and eight hours of sleep are considered ideal so that the skin and body can regenerate completely. Accordingly, it is important to ensure that there is actually a relaxed atmosphere and that the stress of the day is not taken into bed. So instead of going to bed exhausted and under tension, it is advisable to calm down first, for example by. take a soothing bath or read a book comfortably. Those who still have problems “letting go of everyday life” can use special stress relief techniques and exercises such as autogenic training, breathing exercises or Jacobson's progressive muscle relaxation to find a peaceful, healthy sleep.

A steam bath with chamomile is also beneficial for the skin on the face and can make it look years younger, since the blood supply to the skin is stimulated and the pores open. For the bath, put a handful of chamomile flowers or three to four bags of chamomile tea in a bowl with about a liter of boiling water and let the infusion brew for about five minutes. Then hold your head over the bowl and let the hot steam soak into the skin for eight to ten minutes, the effect can be enhanced if the head and bowl are completely covered with a towel.

Simple gymnastics exercises against facial wrinkles

Simple gymnastic exercises can also help to get rosier, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles. Because there are also muscles in the face that can be strengthened by targeted training. For the area of ​​the mouth, lips and cheeks, for example, the so-called "smile exercise", which works on the large zygomatic muscles, has proven its worth. As soon as the fingers hold the skin tight, the corners of the mouth are pulled up for about five seconds like a clown's face. Schüssler salts against wrinkles

Another popular home remedy for wrinkles are Schüssler salts. These are mineral salts in homeopathic dosages, which act on the mineral balance by regulating it, compensating for deficiency states and curing disorders. The alternative healing method was founded by the Oldenburg doctor and homeopath Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schüßler (1821 - 1898), whose original idea was to simplify homeopathic treatment. In the course of this, a separate treatment concept was developed, which is based on the assumption that diseases arise from disturbances in the mineral balance of the body cells and can accordingly be cured by homeopathic administration of appropriate minerals.

Schüssler identified twelve so-called “basic salts”, with each salt performing precisely defined tasks and functions in our body. These include, for example, Ferrum phosphoricum (salt No. 3), potassium sulfuricum (No. 6) and sodium chloratum (No. 8). Later, followers of biochemistry according to Schüssler introduced 15 other substances (for example Calcium sulfuratum, Selenium), which are known today as "supplements".

Calcium fluoratum (salt no. 1), which is considered the salt of the skin, tissues and vessels, is particularly suitable as a natural remedy for wrinkles. Accordingly, it plays a central role in connection with the elasticity and firmness of tissues (such as skin, vessels, muscles etc.) and can be used both internally (for example by tablets or drops) and externally in the form of a cream or lotion . Salt No. 11 - Silicea - can also help with wrinkles and weakening skin elasticity. The so-called "salt of the connective tissue, skin, hair and nails" is important for firm connective tissue and healthy skin, and it can also have a positive effect on the conductivity of the nerves, hair growth and the stability of the nails.

Anti-wrinkle treatment with homeopathy

Homeopathic remedies are also very popular in order to prevent premature skin aging and to reduce existing wrinkles. Silicea (silica) comes into consideration here, which has a particular effect on and strengthens the connective and supporting tissue. Sodium Muraticum has proven itself for dry, cracked skin; if the skin is scaly, potassium sulfuricum can be the treatment of choice. If the skin has already clearly lost its elasticity and the first wrinkles appear, calcium fluoratum helps. The potency and frequency of the homeopathic remedies should be discussed with a homeopath or naturopathic doctor in advance.

Home remedies for wrinkles under the eyes

Proper cleansing is absolutely essential to maintain an even face and eyes that are as free as possible from wrinkles. Make-up residues, sebum, dirt and sweat in particular have to be removed from the sensitive facial skin daily so that the pores do not become clogged and complete regeneration and new cell formation is possible overnight. If there is no cleaning, skin problems such as blemishes, pimples or rash quickly arise, and the skin appears pale, pale and ages faster. When cleaning, it is important to note that lukewarm water is used, especially for dry skin, in order not to remove additional moisture and fat (lipids). In this case, cleaning oils and lipid-replenishing gels are well-suited, however, in the case of oily or impure skin, soap-free and pH-neutral products should be used.

The mascara often poses a special challenge when removing make-up from the eye area because many women have difficulty removing it thoroughly and therefore tackle the color with vigorous rubbing or pressing. However, this should be avoided at all costs, since the skin around the eyes is particularly thin and sensitive and violent “processing” of the eyes can break off the eyelashes and lead to wrinkles. Instead, it is advisable to loosen the mascara as gently as possible by placing a cotton pad soaked with eye make-up remover on the closed eye, gently pressing it on and wiping it down with gentle pressure.

In addition, home remedies for eye wrinkles can provide valuable help so that small smile lines do not develop into deep furrows. For example, ginger oil comes into question, because the ginger root is rich in essential oils, vitamin C and minerals, stimulates the metabolism and regulates the fluid balance of the skin. The oil can be bought ready-made in the drugstore, health food store or pharmacy, but can also be produced without great effort. For this, the ginger is first finely grated and the juice is pressed through a cheesecloth or tea towel. Now mix the collected juice in a ratio of 1: 5 with a high-quality oil (for example sesame, almond or jojoba oil) and fill the finished mixture into a dark glass bottle. For use, dab the sensitive skin around the eyes in the evening after cleaning with an oil-soaked cotton pad and let the valuable ingredients of the ginger root take effect overnight.

Natural home remedies for wrinkles on the neck and décolleté

If the folds are particularly visible on the neck, an oil wrap can serve well. For this, a clean cloth is soaked with a high-quality cooking oil (e.g. wheat germ or olive oil) and placed around the neck for 15 to 30 minutes. Cold weather can also have a positive tightening effect, for example by rubbing the affected skin areas with an ice cube or a cold washcloth.

Small sporty exercises that are easy to integrate into everyday life are good against wrinkles in the cleavage. For example, consciously tightening the chest muscles can be effective: here you stand upright with your legs slightly apart. Now raise your hands at chest height, press the inner surfaces tightly together and hold this position for a few seconds.
